Burkina Faso swept aside Guinea-Bissau 5-0 in Saturday’s friendly, a result that underlined Brama Traoré’s preparations for June’s World Cup qualifiers. P. Kaboré broke the deadlock in the 26th minute and the Stallions never loosened their grip, with Paulo Torres’ side second-best in most duels from that moment on.
Traoré kept faith with his core group, and the approach paid off when D. Ouattara doubled the advantage in the 40th minute. By half-time the visitors were struggling to find outlets, repeatedly forced into hurried clearances by Burkina Faso’s front line.
After the interval the spotlight fell on M. Kaboré. He struck in the 61st, 73rd, and 88th minutes to complete a hat-trick inside 27 minutes, emphasising the depth at Traoré’s disposal. Guinea-Bissau’s defensive block never recovered its shape, while Burkina Faso’s rotations in wide areas continued to stretch the game.
Discipline wavered late on, with two unidentified Burkina Faso players shown yellow cards in the 89th minute and again in the third minute of stoppage time. Otherwise, the hosts controlled proceedings and saw out the clean sheet with minimal fuss.
This friendly followed Burkina Faso’s 2-1 World Cup qualifying win in Bissau last March, a reminder of the gap Torres must close before Group D resumes.
